The Everett Warriors''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 26-7 bruising from Meyersdale. Everett was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Meyersdale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.
Jonathan Cooper threw for 42 yards on two of seven attempts. Gavin Goodrich was his top target, rushing for four yards. On the ground, George Kuhne rushed for 31 yards.
Among those leading the charge was Ian Brenneman, who rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Schurg, who picked up 70 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Everett to a paltry 57 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Meyersdale's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Brenneman and his two sacks.
Everett's defeat was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Meyersdale, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Everett will square off against Claysburg-Kimmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Claysburg-Kimmel is ranked 491st, while Everett is ranked 486th). As for Meyersdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern Huntingdon County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Huntingdon County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
