The Don Lugo Conquistadores won the last time they faced the Workman Lobos, and things went their way on Thursday too. Don Lugo simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Workman 45-13 on the road. Given Don Lugo's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Workman is ranked 1198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Makena Encarnacion was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Sarah Magadan was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Don Lugo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Workman, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Don Lugo will square off against La Serna at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Workman, they will head out on the road to face off against Montebello at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
