On Wednesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Santa Fe had to settle for a 38-35 loss against Bravo. Santa Fe has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Santa Fe had strong showings from Samantha Leon, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds, and Abigail Cetina, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Those 21 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Santa Fe were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bravo was led to victory by Jade Fernandez and Victoria Rodriguez. Fernandez scored 12 points, while Rodriguez scored 13 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fernandez has scored at least 25% of Bravo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caileigh Cruz, who scored six points.
Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Bravo, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Fontana the next time they take the court. Bravo will head out to face Fontana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Santa Fe will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
