Scholars Guild Academy is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out on the road to challenge the Young Americans Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Scholars Guild Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Young Americans Christian will be coming in after a defeat.
Scholars Guild Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Skipstone Academy with a sharp 15-0 win.
Will Pittman and Ty Newton were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Pittman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Newton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Pittman scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Newton scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Pittman has become a key player for Scholars Guild Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jacob Chupp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Henry Rumble was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Scholars Guild Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skipstone Academy only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, Young Americans Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-16 heartbreaker at the hands of New Creation Christian Academy. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Jackson Turner was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and five RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of LJ Howard, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-5.
Scholars Guild Academy's record now sits at 5-6. As for Young Americans Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
