It was a good run, but the Porterville Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Madera 49-45. Porterville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Madera apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2017.
Despite the loss, Porterville had strong showings from Ryleigh Schoonover, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Amaya Cortez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Schoonover is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Porterville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Madera, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Porterville will take on Golden West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden West is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Madera, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bullard at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bullard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Madera in California (Bullard is ranked 121st, while Madera is ranked 389th).
