Basketball Recap: Brianna Ike and Tatyana Aubry Secure Win for Leuzinger

Leuzinger picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against the Arleta Mustangs by a score of 52-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Olympians.

Leading Leuzinger to victory were Tatyana Aubry and Brianna Ike. Aubry went 7 for 17 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven assists and five steals, while Ike went 9 of 19 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Ike's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sovereign Woods, who posted nine points.

Leuzinger smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Arleta lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Justine Mejia, who put up 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Mejia is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatiana Hernandez, who had eight points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Leuzinger's record now sits at 5-8. As for Arleta, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Leuzinger wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-44 victory against Cleveland on the 31st. As for Arleta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-35 loss against Burroughs on the 31st.
