The East Nicolaus Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took down Willows 64-46. That result was just more of the same for these two, as East Nicolaus also won the last time the pair played on January 8th.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Nicolaus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylee Gillespie, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Gillespie is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brooklyn Hall was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Willows' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McKenzie Yang, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Yang scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karla Sandoval DiMaggio, who scored 14 points.
East Nicolaus is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Willows, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
East Nicolaus will head out on the road to face off against Pierce at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Pierce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday. As for Willows, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winters at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
