Hersey is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Buffalo Grove a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Hersey Huskies will be playing at home against the Buffalo Grove Bison at 4:45 p.m. Hersey has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hersey had taken Wheeling down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Huskies lost 13-6 to the Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly seven runs.
Alan Mikuta made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Evan Steinbrunner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Rolling Meadows.
Tyler Campbell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Drew Carrison was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Buffalo Grove: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 8-18 otherwise. Nathan Raef was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.
Hersey's defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Buffalo Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 11-18.
Everything went Hersey's way against Buffalo Grove in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Hersey made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
