The Leigh Longhorns will take on the Evergreen Valley Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Leigh took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past Hillsdale 6-5.
Noah Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miller was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024.
Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Justin Jeong, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, Jeong posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Brandon Kim was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Evergreen Valley had just enough and edged out More 7-5 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Liam Chang looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marco Aguilar, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Tristan Ho, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Leigh pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen Valley, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Leigh skirted past Evergreen Valley 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Does Leigh have another victory up their sleeve, or will Evergreen Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
