The Dimond Lynx will take on the Service Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dimond is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Chugiak, who was ranked fifth at the time (Dimond was ranked eighth). The Lynx had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lynx have posted against the Mustangs since May 27, 2021.
Dimond saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Estigo, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Gase Faapouli also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Dimond hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chugiak struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Service got the win against Eagle River on Monday by a conclusive 15-5. Considering the Cougars have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Service got a massive performance out of Noah Cummings, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cummings a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rilen Niclai, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Service and bumps their season record up to 14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Dimond, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dimond has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Service struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dimond might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Service in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Lynx have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
