Jordan-Matthews is 0-10 against Northwood since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jordan-Matthews Jets will head out on the road to challenge the Northwood Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Jordan-Matthews will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Northwood is ranked 71st).
On Wednesday, Jordan-Matthews lost to Graham on the road by a decisive 47-33 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jordan-Matthews in their matchups with Graham: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Jordan-Matthews got a solid performance out of Reagan Smith, who scored four points along with 20 rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Yamilet Lozano, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Northwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 43-33 to Southeast Alamance. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northwood has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mikaylah Glover, who scored nine points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylah Glover, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds.
Northwood struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Jordan-Matthews has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Northwood, their loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.
Jordan-Matthews was dealt a bruising 58-13 defeat at the hands of Northwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Jordan-Matthews was down 34-11.
