Basketball Recap: Ava Barrera and Zyondupree Beasley Secure Win for East Union

On Thursday, the East Union Lancers earned a 52-39 victory over the Patterson Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Leading East Union to victory were Zyondupree Beasley and Ava Barrera. Beasley almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards, while Barrera almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Barrera is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alessandra Montes, who posted two points and six rebounds.

East Union was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patterson only racked up five assists.

Patterson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kailani Ortiz, who earned nine points and five boards, and Nevaeh Goins, who had 13 points.

East Union is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Patterson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Manteca the next time they take the court. East Union will head out to face Manteca at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Patterson will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
