The Chavez Titans lost against the McNair Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Chavez took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of McNair. Chavez has not had much luck with McNair recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Chavez still got an impressive performance from Zalika White, who scored 24 points along with two steals. That was a full 48% of Chavez's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Paulina Sanchez, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Chavez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McNair only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Kalysa Phanhsavang, who scored 27 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds for McNair. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Do, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for McNair, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chavez will square off against Stagg at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stagg will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Chavez surely won't give up without a fight. As for McNair, they will head out on the road to challenge Bear Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McNair is facing Bear Creek at the right time seeing as Bear Creek is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
