The Madison Warhawks will challenge the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Madison's tournament run continued when they took on Monte Vista on Friday. Madison blew past Monte Vista 15-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warhawks.
Dakota James made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. James was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Madison got a massive performance out of Jack O'Toole, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits O'Toole has posted since back in March of 2024. Ryan Jackson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Madison hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Jolla Country Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over San Diego on Friday.
Elias Hanley looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Jackson Norum was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaza Nishiba, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
La Jolla Country Day now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Madison, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Madison has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like La Jolla Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madison skirted past La Jolla Country Day 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
