El Toro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Cubacub led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mariana Mina, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Mission Viejo suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Dana Hills at home and fell 59-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mission Viejo in their matchups with Dana Hills: they've now lost five in a row.
El Toro's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Mission Viejo, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
El Toro was able to grind out a solid win over Mission Viejo in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 37-24. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mission Viejo's Brookelyn Madland, who scored six points along with 20 rebounds and five steals.
