Softball Recap: Florence Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Florence hadn't done well against Woodland Park recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Huskies never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 11 runs or more this season.

Addison Dalton was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makala Miller, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lilly Roe, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Florence moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Woodland Park, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Florence will head out on the road to take on Canon City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodland Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arvada at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 15.2 runs per game this season.
