After a string of three wins, the Waunakee Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. Their2023 ended with a 70-52 loss against Arrowhead. While losing is never fun, Waunakee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Arrowhead is ranked first).
Arrowhead's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natlie Kussow, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Kussow's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Abby Robel was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Waunakee's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Arrowhead, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waunakee and Milton will face off at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Milton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Arrowhead, they will head out on the road to face off against Catholic Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic Memorial will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
