After low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Hawthorne brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They put the hurt on the Morningside Monarchs with a sharp 24-8 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Hawthorne's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Morningside, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Hawthorne will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Monarchs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
