The Deer Valley Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Liberty, falling 72-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Deer Valley has scored all season.
Leading Liberty to victory were Lea Salinas beamen and Madison Perea. Salinas beamen dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Perea dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Perea is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aly Acosta, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Deer Valley dropped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Liberty, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-9.
Deer Valley will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Antioch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wolverines in California (the Panthers are ranked 467th, while the Wolverines are ranked 1020th). As for Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
