Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact the San Jacinto Tigers proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-35 victory over Vista Murrieta. Given San Jacinto's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Vista Murrieta is ranked 797th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Luv'lee Sadler, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mary Oziengbe, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Vista Murrieta had strong showings from Alyson Pulsipher, who scored 12 points, and Jordyn Smith, who scored nine points. The matchup was Pulsipher's third in a row with at least ten points.
San Jacinto's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7. As for Vista Murrieta, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
San Jacinto is on the road again on Saturday and play against Orange Vista at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th. Orange Vista is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Vista Murrieta will be home for the holidays to greet Imperial at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Imperial's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Vista Murrieta's offense will have their work cut out for Vista Murrieta.
