Softball Recap: Golden Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Golden had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Pomona Panthers as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Demons have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adrianna Riddle made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Riddle was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Golden let Daely Peterson and Reagan Smith run wild. Peterson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Smith went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Peterson is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucca Merz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Golden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 14-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Golden's record is now 17-5. As for Pomona, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Golden will challenge rival D'Evelyn at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Demons 3.9, the Jaguars 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pomona is set to take on their familiar foe Wheat Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
