The Century Centurions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 73-20 defeat at the hands of Anaheim. While losing is never fun, Century can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1207th, while Anaheim is ranked 93rd).
Anaheim's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melody Cortes, who scored 14 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cortes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lesli Dominquez, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Century bumped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.3 points per game. As for Anaheim, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Century will take on Magnolia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Anaheim will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Savanna at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Savanna is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
