The Eagle Rock Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-45 victory over Marshall at home. Eagle Rock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.
Eagle Rock found their leader in underclassman Nylah Moore, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandrah Naranjo, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Despite the loss, Marshall still got an impressive performance from Jeda Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Taylor is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alicia Quintanar, who scored four points along with four blocks.
Marshall struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Eagle Rock racked up 16 assists.
The victory (which was Eagle Rock's seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Marshall, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Rock will square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 3. As for Marshall, they will head out on the road to challenge Arleta at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Arleta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Marshall in California (Arleta is ranked 388th, while Marshall is ranked 788th).
