Baseball Recap: Stevenson Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

With a playoff win on the line, Stevenson rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the South San Francisco Warriors with a sharp 18-8 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Reggie Bell, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jack Bucich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Stevenson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for South San Francisco, they moved to 23-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Stevenson has already played their next match, a 5-2 victory against Torres on the 3rd. South San Francisco does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
