Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Orange Glen Patriots

Canyon Hills is a perfect 3-0 against Orange Glen since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rattlers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Canyon Hills has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Canyon Hills' tournament run continued when they took on Morse on Wednesday. The Rattlers lost 17-2 to the Tigers. The Rattlers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Canyon Hills saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josue Flores, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Orange Glen was able to grind out a solid victory over Hoover on Wednesday, taking the game 8-5. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Nicki Cardenas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Orange Glen is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4-1 otherwise. Cardenas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Jacob Morales was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Adrian Garcia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Orange Glen's victory bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for Canyon Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-2.

Canyon Hills took their win against Orange Glen when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 23-0 score. Do the Rattlers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
