Mountain Empire has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Foothills Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Mountain Empire might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Warner an easy 40-15 victory.
Mountain Empire's defeat came about despite a quality game from Carli McGhee, who scored nine points. McGhee scored a full 60% of Mountain Empire's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bibi Caceres, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Foothills Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Gompers Prep Academy by a score of 23-20.
Mountain Empire's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Foothills Christian, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Mountain Empire ended up a good deal behind Foothills Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 36-17. Can Mountain Empire avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
