For the first time this season, Sheldon will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sheldon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Friday just wasn't the day for Sheldon's offense. They came up short against Rodriguez on Friday, falling 10-0. The Huskies have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cosumnes Oaks). Everything went their way against Kennedy two weeks ago as Cosumnes Oaks made off with a 21-1 victory. The Wolfpack have beaten the Cougars the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.
Izzy Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Massimo Jimenez was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Colby Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Cosumnes Oaks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sheldon now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Sheldon's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. Sheldon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game.
