The Apple Valley Christian Warriors kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They suffered a tough 41-16 loss at the hands of Silver Valley.
Despite the defeat, Apple Valley Christian saw an underclassman step up: Mandy Hall scored 9 points.
Sydney Trotter was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 23 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Silver Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Serwaah Sarpong, who scored 10 points.
Apple Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Silver Valley, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Apple Valley Christian will head out on the road to face off against Excelsior Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Silver Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Hesperia Christian at 4:30 p.m. Hesperia Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Silver Valley in California (Hesperia Christian is ranked 317th, while Silver Valley is ranked 1024th).
