The Grace Davis Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Central Valley Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Grace Davis' tournament run continued when they took on Orland on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-4. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Logan Ariza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 11 games he's played. Armando Villegas was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, while Central Valley put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Golden Valley. The Hawks put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Central Valley also got a great performance from Nicholas Dominguez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caden Mendonca, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Mason Whitworth, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Central Valley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Grace Davis, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grace Davis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Grace Davis suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Central Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
