Foothill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Union, sneaking past 5-3.
Ramon Diaz made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Diaz was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Foothill let Carlos Ruano and Marcos Carbajal run wild. Ruano went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Carbajal went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Lemoore got themselves on the board against Santa Ynez on Friday, but Santa Ynez never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Pirates. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Not much got past Nick Johnson, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Santa Ynez off the board. Johnson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lemoore's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chris Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Tyson Kinter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Foothill pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Lemoore, their record now sits at 15-12.
Lemoore's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Foothill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449.
