Baseball Recap: Silver Valley Starts Season with Victory at Home

Silver Valley took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Desert Scorpions. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Timothey Yrigoyen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Yrigoyen was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jonathyn Yrigoyen and Corey Mcinnis did most of the damage at the plate: Jonathyn scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Mcinnis scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ben Gillam, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Silver Valley will welcome Littlerock at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Desert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palmdale Academy Charter School at 3:15 p.m. on March 7th.
