After a string of seven wins, the Belle Chasse Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Hammond by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (59), Belle Chasse still had to take the loss.
Kyle Reeves and Jaylen Hughes Ingram certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Reeves scored 21 points along with two steals, while Hughes Ingram scored 16 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Bacani, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Hammond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justin Harland, who scored 16 points. Charles Armstrong was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Belle Chasse's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8. As for Hammond, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belle Chasse will take on John Ehret at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hammond, they will head out on the road to square off against Fontainebleau at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
