Sewickley Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 66-34 defeat at the hands of Ellwood City. While losing is never fun, Sewickley Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Ellwood City is ranked 228th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ellwood City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayla Jones, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Noble, who scored 11 points.
Sewickley Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Ellwood City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Sewickley Academy will head out on the road to take on Shenango at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ellwood City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laurel at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
