Basketball Recap: Triton's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Overhills, Triton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-29 victory over the Harnett Central Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 47-27 back in November of 2024.

Ja'Niah Smith was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 15 on her way to 18 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Nashara McNeil-Watlington, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Triton was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Triton's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Harnett Central, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Triton will host E.E. Smith at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Azariah Brunson and McNeil-Watlington. As for Harnett Central, they and Hobbton will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Harnett Central is facing Hobbton at the right time seeing as Hobbton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
