The Pine Grove Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 57-40 bruising from Panther Valley. Pine Grove was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Panther Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Leading Panther Valley to victory were Morgan Orsulak and Maddison Maynard. Orsulak dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Maynard dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Maynard has scored at least 25% of Panther Valley's points.
Pine Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Panther Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Pine Grove will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Panther Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Blue Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
