Basketball Recap: Poway Takes a Loss

Poway lost against Westview back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Poway Titans took a blow against the Westview Wolverines, falling 71-36. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 577th, while the Wolverines are ranked 75th).

Poway's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Farr, who posted eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. Farr is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 21 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raya Halonen, who earned 11 points.

Poway has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Westview, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Poway will take on Mission Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.8 points per game this season. As for Westview, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-33 win against Cathedral Catholic on the 3rd.
