Baseball Recap: Westminster Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Young Americans Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakeview Academy, Westminster Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Young Americans Christian Eagles with a sharp 9-2 victory. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

William Greene made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Westminster Christian Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Greene was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

In other pitching news, Westminster Christian Academy got a great performance from Cole Grantham as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Grantham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Rhyan Ford and David Norris did most of the damage at the plate: Ford scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Norris scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that Norris snagged this season. Another player making a difference was David Tingle, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Westminster Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Young Americans Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Peachtree Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 17th. As for Young Americans Christian, they will take on Scholars Guild Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Scholars Guild Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
