The Santana Sultans will head out on the road to face off against the El Cajon Valley Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses for Santana and five for the Braves.
Last Tuesday, Santana had to suffer through a rough 67-10 loss at the hands of the Cougars. Santana was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-8.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Jayden Fields and
Harper Diaz, who each put up four points.
Meanwhile, El Cajon Valley struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Wolf Pack had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. El Cajon Valley was beaten by the Wolf Pack 54-12. While losing is never fun, El Cajon Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1140th, while the Wolf Pack are ranked 506th).
Santana has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season. As for El Cajon Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
Santana came up short against the Braves in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 39-28. Can Santana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
