The Mid Valley Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Riverside Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mid Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Mid Valley posted their biggest win since December 11, 2023 on Friday. They really took it to Forest City for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-12 win at home. With Mid Valley ahead 45-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Krista Cortazar was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Emilee Tomsak was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Riverside ended up a good deal behind Dunmore on Thursday and lost 48-31. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Dunmore is ranked 114th).
Mid Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.33 points. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Mid Valley strolled past Riverside in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 58-43. Does Mid Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Riverside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
