Bret Harte and Amador are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Bullfrogs will face off against the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bret Harte is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Argonaut a 3-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Bullfrogs in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Jack Trent
05/06/25 vs Argonaut | 1 |
05/01/25 vs Summerville | 2 |
04/24/25 vs Linden | 0 |
04/19/25 vs Calaveras | 1 |
The result came thanks to Jack Trent's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bret Harte saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Lenard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Amador, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Le Grand on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Buffaloes considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Brad Blankenheim and Johnny Melton did most of the damage at the plate: Blankenheim went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Melton went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Melton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Lee, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Amador always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Amador back to even at 13-13-1. As for Bret Harte, their record is now 18-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bret Harte has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Amador struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bret Harte beat Amador 6-3 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bullfrogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
