Bellevue capped a 14-0 season with a 35-3 win over Eastside Catholic in the Washington Class 3A state championship game. The win allowed the Wolverines to finish No. 6 in the country in the
Xcellent 25 rankings and No. 5 in the
MaxPreps Freeman Rankings.
Goncharoff gets much of the credit for that. In building one of the finest programs in the nation, Goncharoff has won 40 straight games and five straight 3A state championships. Bellevue has won 10 titles in Goncharoff's 13 years as head coach.
Jack was the catalyst for this year's Wolverine squad, especially on defense, where he racked up 21 tackles in earning state co-MVP honors along with Skyline's Max Browne. Bellevue held opponents to a touchdown or less in 11 games this year, including six shutouts. Jack has reportedly committed to play at UCLA.
Derrick Henry of Yulee is also a member of the Medium Schools All-American Team. Since Henry was chosen as the
MaxPreps National Player of the Year, Jack has been chosen as the Medium Schools Player of the Year in order to recognize his, and Bellevue's, accomplishments this year.
Members of the Medium Schools All-American team were chosen from schools that belong to state enrollment divisions with generally between 1,000 and 2,000 students.
