The Gridley Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 63-39 walloping at the hands of Inderkum. While losing is never fun, Gridley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while Inderkum is ranked 183rd).
Gridley's loss came despite strong showings from Brook Marr and AnaGloria Luevano . Marr dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Luevano scored 16 points along with six assists and five steals. Marr scored a full 56.4% of Gridley's points, the 14th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Inderkum's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamiah Fontenberry, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fontenberry has scored at least 25% of Inderkum's points. Ariel Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Gridley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Inderkum, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Gridley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Placer at 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Inderkum will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Kennedy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
