With a playoff game on the line, the Monte Vista Mustangs rose to the challenge on Wednesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 54-53 win over the Gaels. The victory was just what Monte Vista needed coming off of a 84-39 loss in their prior match.
Monte Vista found their leader in underclassman Alyssa Rudd, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Rudd has scored at least a third of Monte Vista's points. Juliette Leonard was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Monte Vista has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Dublin, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-12.
Monte Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dublin also has no future games currently scheduled.
