Franklin has gone a perfect 8-0 against Troy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Franklin slipped by Legacy School of Sport Sciences 49-48. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Titans are ranked 280th).

Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Troy made off with a 46-45 victory over Maypearl. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 28.6 points per game.

Franklin better keep an eye on Jayden Lucky. He was instrumental in Troy's win, rushing for 168 yards and four TDs, while also picking up 50 receiving yards and one score. That's the most rushing touchdowns Lucky has posted since back in October of 2024.

Troy's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. In that department, Tedricc Calhoun was the leader with three sacks. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Troy, racking up 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sammie Taplin, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Troy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Franklin, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Franklin took their win against Troy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 56-34 score. In that matchup, the Lions amassed a halftime lead of 35-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
