After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Roosevelt, Rifle was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Pueblo East Eagles as they made off with a 14-3 victory. Considering the Bears have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Gia Keithley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Keithley was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.
In other batting news, Rifle got a massive performance out of Rylan Petree, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Petree is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Mangnall, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Rifle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive contests.
Rifle is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Pueblo East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.
Rifle wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 25-18 defeat against Roosevelt on the 17th. Pueblo East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
