Basketball Recap: Exeter Takes a Loss

Exeter dropped down to 8-6 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were dealt a 66-17 loss at the hands of the Mission Oak Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while the Hawks are ranked 216th).

As for Mission Oak, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games.

Mission Oak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiyana Murray led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Murray is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Renae Randle was another key player, putting up ten points and six steals.

Coincidentally, Exeter and Mission Oak will both be playing Chowchilla the next time they take the court. The Monarchs will head out to face the Tribe at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Hawks will play them later in the day, at 5:30 p.m.
