The Gridley Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Las Plumas Thunderbirds, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Gridley came out on top in a nail-biter against Las Plumas and snuck past 37-35.
Gridley was led to victory by AnaGloria Luevano and Brook Marr. Luevano scored 13 points, while Marr dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 blocks. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Marr has scored at least a third of Gridley's points.
Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mylee Olivieri, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was liliana Carrillo, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Las Plumas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gridley only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
The victory got Gridley back to even at 11-11. As for Las Plumas, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 11-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gridley will stay at home for another game and welcome Corning at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Corning has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for Las Plumas, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oroville at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Oroville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday.
