The Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cumberland Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Cerro Gordo/Bement, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 74-55 loss to Okaw Valley.
Meanwhile, Cumberland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 62-32 victory over Heritage on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Cumberland has managed all season.
Cumberland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Roedl out in front who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Blake Mcmechan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Cerro Gordo/Bement's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-12. As for Cumberland, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.
Cerro Gordo/Bement beat Cumberland 51-41 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Cerro Gordo/Bement repeat their success, or does Cumberland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
