Willows hasn't had much luck against Winters recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Honkers will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Winters took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Willows, who comes in off a win.
Willows' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Pierce as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Honkers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th (when they won 17-0).
The team relied heavily on Clint Girard, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Baber, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Willows always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
River City hit Winters with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 8-7. The Warriors have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Everett Beason made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Jake Woods was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Willows is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Winters, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
Willows might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Winters when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Honkers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
