The Maxwell Panthers will be playing at home against the CORE Butte Lynx at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-20, which was the final score in Maxwell's tilt against Hamilton on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maxwell has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Maxwell got a solid performance out of Emma Hendrix, who almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. That was a full 55% of Maxwell's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Bailee Haywood was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Maxwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Even though CORE Butte has not done well against Los Molinos recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. CORE Butte snuck past Los Molinos with a 25-21 victory.
Maxwell's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for CORE Butte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season.
Maxwell didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against CORE Butte in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 29-23 victory. Does Maxwell have another victory up their sleeve, or will CORE Butte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
